CASA to use Perth-London data to assess proposals for ultra long haul flight crew duty hours

Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) spokesman Peter Gibson said the authority will use some data generated from Qantas' Perth-London route to help it to evaluate proposed longer duty times for flight crew to allow the carrier to operate nonstop flights from Australia's east coast to Europe and to the US east coast (Reuters, 04-May-2019). The Perth-London service takes up to 17 hours 30 minutes, while the new ultra long haul flights could take up to 23 hours.
