Caribbean region sees a 2% increase in forward bookings for winter 2019/2020

Caribbean Tourism Organization reported (06-Nov-2019) a 1.6% year-on-year increase in forward bookings for 01-Nov-2019 to 31-Jan-2020, according to ForwardKeys. Bookings from the US, the Caribbean's most important market, declined by 3% while other major markets such as France (+9.8%), UK (+0.9%), Canada (+8.2%), Argentina (+8.1%) grew, and the rest of the world collectively increased by 3.2%. The current leader is the Netherlands with a 42.1% increase. The US issuing market had 56% market share in 9M2019. Local destinations' forward bookings are shifting at an uneven pace, highlighted by the following:

  • Puerto Rico: +28.0%;
  • Dominican Republic: -14.2%;
  • Bahamas: -6.4%;
