Canberra Airport to overhaul terminal retail, awards contracts to ARE and awpl

Canberra Airport announced (12-Jul-2019) the following details of a planned major terminal retail overhaul:

  • More than 1000sqm of new retail and F&B outlets with a focus on local food and products;
  • Airport Retail Enterprises (ARE) awarded the F&B component of the new terminal retail. New outlets include City Hill Coffee, Noodles XO, and a health food offering. Existing outlets Limestone Bar, Tuk Shop and Hudson coffee will be replaced by Capital Brewing Co Bar, a partnership between ARE and the local brewery. ARE will also add a mixed news, books, travel essentials and café space on the ground floor in the arrivals baggage hall;
  • awpl awarded the news, books and gifting concession. awpl will initially open News@CBR followed by Merchant Canberra, which will showcase locally made gifts.

Construction will commence in the coming months and stores will be introduced in two stages, with stage one finishing by the end of 2019 and stage two being completed by Easter 2020. [more - original PR]
