Canada moves 'from a health crisis to a very serious economic crisis': CEO

3 July, 2020

Air Canada CEO Calin Rovinescu classed the COVID-19 pandemic as being "hundreds of times worse than 9/11, SARS, or the global financial crisis - quite frankly combined" (Financial Post, 30-Jun-2020). He noted that Canada is "closed to business by government decree", leading the country "from a health crisis to a very serious economic crisis". Mr Rovinescu expressed optimism about "travel bubbles", calling them "the way to go", but noted there have been no measures to ease restrictions for airlines, despite talks with government.
