California Pacific Airlines is targeting a launch date of 01-Apr-2018, according to owner Ted Vallas (Coast News, 15-Jan-2018). Utilising a fleet of six aircraft, the carrier will launch service to Sacramento, Oakland, San Jose, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Cabo San Lucas as phase one, before adding more cities in Utah and Houston as part of phase two. Director of operations and operations advisor Paul Hook said the fleet will eventually expand to 25 aircraft, saying: "Things are moving forward very quickly, it's looking very exciting". The carrier will be based at San Diego McClellan-Palomar Airport (California), with Mr Vallas inviting investment from local residents: "I want this to be a North San Diego County owned and operated airline. I am a great believer in the community being behind this operation and getting involved". He stressed California Pacific is not a LCC, as "that's not how we've structured ourselves". The carrier is expected to generate at least 150 jobs in its first year.
