Cairns Airport announced (30-May-2019) phase one of the new speciality retail stores for the airport's upgraded domestic terminal. Details include:
- Lagardere Travel Retail, Produce of Australia and a number of independent operators will operate the speciality retail stores;
- The upgraded domestic terminal will include 35 new or expanded retail concepts in total, including a local specialist chocolatier;
- Other stores specialising in clothing, gifts, luggage and locally soured products;
- The airport's AUD55 million (USD38 million) upgrade currently employs 350 local contractors and on completion will provide an additional 150 jobs in new F&B and speciality retail outlets;
- The expanded terminal will cater for the six million passengers p/a that are expected by 2027. [more - original PR]
