CADE recommends changes to Brazil ANAC slot allocation process at Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport

Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) recommended (24-Jun-2019) Brazil ANAC to "be flexible with the concept of new entrant at Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport and to modify the percentage of slots remaining from Avianca Brazil". The proposed measures seek to stimulate competition in the aviation sector, "which already present characteristics of [market] concentration". CADE added that using the current slot assignment protocol, "Gol Linhas Aéreas and LATAM Airlines Brazil, leaders in that market, would increase even more their concentration in an already uncompetitive environment".
