Bucharest North-Bucharest Airport rail link completion to be prioritised before UEFA Euro 2020

Romania's Ministry of Transport signed the RON398.2 million (EUR84.3 million) contract for construction of the Bucharest North Station-Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport terminal 1 rail connection on 10-Jun-2019 (romaniajournal.ro, 11-Jun-2019). As previously reported by CAPA, the contract was awarded to a consortium comprising Arcada Company/SC ISPCF/DB Engineering and Consulting. Transport Minister Razvan Cuc said the priority is for the contractor to complete the project by May-2020, in time for UEFA Euro 2020 championship in Jun/Jul-2020, and requested it shorten the design period in order to commence works sooner.
