Brussels South Charleroi CEO doubts Belgian flights would decrease due to environmental issues

13 November, 2019

Brussels South Charleroi Airport CEO Philippe Verdonck expressed doubt that Belgium would experience a downturn in air services due to environmental concerns (The Brussels Times, 11-Nov-2019). Mr Verdonck said: "The environmental movement exists, but on the other hand, IATA announced again this week that air traffic will double, if not more, by 2035. This is contradictory information". Mr Verdonck continued: "There is much talk of the train replacing aircraft but the infrastructure is lacking".
