Brussels Airport to carry out runway renovations in summer 2020

Brussels Airport announced (02-Jun-2020) plans to undergo renovation of its main 07L/25R runway from 13-Jul-2020 to 23-Aug-2020. Preliminary works will take place from 08-Jul-2020 to 13-Jul-2020. Works will be carried out 24 hours per day to limit the duration of the runway closure and the impact of the renovation works. The project includes milling and replacement of the top layers of asphalt over the entire runway surface, replacement of runway lighting and cabling with LED systems, including 1000 taxiway lights, and drainage renovations. Additional works will include cabling of the high-voltage and data networks and on the airfield light poles, as well as lawn repairs, to avoid later closure of the runway.
