Brussels Airlines suspends service to Sharm el Sheikh following renewed safety concerns

8 June, 2018

Brussels Airlines said following an internal security and safety analysis, service to Sharm el Sheikh was suspended until 26-Oct-2018, as confirmed by external communications manager Kim Daenen (Belga/NOS/VRT, 07-Jun-2018). Brussels Airlines initially planned to operate on behalf of Thomas Cook Group to Sharm el Sheikh from 29-Jun-2018. "We do not think the route to fly to Sharm el Sheikh is safe enough", she added. TUI Group said while it is following the situation "closely", it has not received any notion of changed security risk from the Belgian Foreign Affairs office "so our flights will continue as usual".
