Brazil's antitrust authority recommends veto to luggage allowance law

29 May, 2019

Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) recommended (28-May-2019) Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro to veto an article of the bill which allows 100% FDI in Brazilian carriers. The article refers to reimplementation of a 23kg luggage allowance for passengers on aircraft with more than 31 seats. CADE argued the measure could affect investments and hamper competition as it removes a key differential offered by LCCs, the main business model interested in launching in the country.
