Brazil reports 16% increase in US, Canada and Australia tourists

Brazil's Ministry of Tourism, via its official Twitter account, reported (07-Feb-2020) a 16% year-on-year increase in tourists arrivals from US, Canada and Australia in the Jun-2019 to Dec-2019 period, following the exemption of tourism visa requirements. Arrivals from Japan reduced 9% during the period.

  • US: +14.8%;
  • Canada: +26%;
  • Australia: +16.3%.

Brazil's Minister of Tourism Marcelo Álvaro Antônio stated: "It is important to specifically evaluate the case of Japan so that along with Embratur we can work in marketing Brazil in the country to increase the visits of these tourists".
