7 January, 2019

Boom Supersonic closed (04-Jan-2019) a USD100 million Series B round, bringing total funding raised to over USD141 million. The round was led by Emerson Collective and also included Y Combinator Continuity, Caffeinated Capital, SV Angel early backers of Google, Airbnb, Stripe, and Dropbox. CEO Blake Scholl said the funding will advance development on Overture, the company's high speed Mach 2.2 commercial aircraft. Mr Scholl said Overture fares "will be similar to today's business class," adding the ultimate goal is to "make high-speed flight affordable to all". The 55 seat aircraft is expected to be operational by the mid 2020s and will be capable of operating between New York and London in three hours and 15 minutes. [more - original PR]
