Bombardier reviewing options for Downsview site

14 January, 2018

Bombardier announced (12-Jan-2018) a review is underway of its facilties worldwide as part of its five year turnaround plan. The company is considering options for its Downsview site, noting it currently uses only about 10% of the 365 acre site and bears the "entire cost" of operating a 7000ft runway. Bombardier will work with all stakeholders throughout the review process. VP external relations Olivier Marcil said: "We think that there's a better use for the land than a current airport and that could be to the benefit of not only the company but the city of Toronto and the people" (Globe and Mail/CBC, 12-Jan-2018). He also noted: "When we look at the Downsview site, it's clear it's an asset that could be leveraged". [more - original PR]
