Boeing CEO: Commercial supersonic flight needs 'economic viability for broad participation'

8 February, 2018

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg said the key to the re-introduction of commercial supersonic flight will be the "economic viability for broad participation in that marketplace" (Aerospace America, Feb-2018). Mr Muilenburg noted aircraft such as the 787 and 777X are geared towards efficiently connecting city pairs and there will need to be a "step" taken in the efficiency and economic viability of engines to make a supersonic airliner "more broadly attractive to customers".
