Boeing announces leadership changes, Dennis Muilenburg resigns as CEO

Boeing announced (23-Dec-2019) the following leadership changes to bring renewed commitment to transparency and better communication with regulators and customers in safely returning the 737 MAX to service:

  • David Calhoun appointed as CEO and president, effective 13-Jan-2020. Dennis Muilenburg resigned from his positions as CEO and board director, effective immediately. Mr Calhoun most recently served as chairman and will remain a member of the board;
  • CFO Greg Smith will serve as interim CEO, effective immediately;
  • Lawrence W Kellnerwill appointed as chairman, effective immediately.

The board of directors reported a change in leadership was necessary to restore confidence in the company moving forward as it works to repair relationships with regulators, customers and all other stakeholders. [more - original PR]
