Bleisure is the new trendy lingo of combining some personal with business travel, and the buzzword has taken the travel industry by storm during the last couple of years.
- Jack and Ferdi is a new bleisure travel app currently in beta with plans to launch in the autumn following the conclusion of crowdfunding;
- The app has been founded by serial entrepreneurs Anne-Fleur Andrle and Romain Aubanel;
- The app offers five things to see, five things to eat, five views to enjoy, five authentic gifts, and five meeting and work spaces in each city;
- It does not accept sponsored content to provide authentic recommendations specifically for the bleisure market.
So it shouldn’t be a surprise there’s an app in development to help the bleisure traveller by Jack and Ferdi. The company recently concluded a crowdfunding campaign to accelerate the development of certain features, and add more destinations. The campaign was live on iFundWomen for three weeks and reached its initial goal of USD10,000 only 15 days after launch and closed our campaign with USD12,000.
Jack and Ferdi has a targeted launch date of Autumn 2018 for its app that “does not accept sponsored content and provides authentic recommendations specifically for the bleisure market”.
The app’s design is broken down into five things to see, five things to eat, five views to enjoy, five authentic gifts, and five meeting and work spaces based on the user’s profile, location and travel objectives. All of those suggestions are curated by a team of “City Ambassadors”.
Part of Jack and Ferdi’s marketing strategy is the conclusion that some traditional travel apps are “riddled with the same issues”, including sponsored content, ratings that are unfairly manipulated and recommendations are not tailored to a user in his or her constraints.
“Jack and Ferdi provides business business travellers the opportunity to seize the full potential of their trips by offering geolocalised, AI-generated and curator-vetted suggestions,” the company stated.
Jack and Ferdi is the mobile app for modern business travelers looking for easy and reliable ways to experience what’s most quintessential about the city they visit, while they unwind and de-stress. Unlike existing travel apps, Jack and Ferdi does not accept sponsored content and provides authentic recommendations specifically for the bleisure market.
Jack and Ferdi has been founded by serial entrepreneurs Anne-Fleur Andrle and Romain Aubanel and says it has been incorporated “as a public benefit corporation” and is committed to donating a percentage of profits to local organisations “to preserve the area’s culture and heritage”.
Millennials are acknowledged as redefining business travel as we know it and are becoming the base of bleisure travel. Various surveys show that more than two thirds of millennials intentionally carve out personal time on a business trip and add an extra personal day. Some actually put the level as high as 85%.
The Jack and Ferdi mission is “to make business travel healthier, keep it rooted in authentic culture, and have it be more socially responsible.” In a recent interview co-founder Ms Andrle said: “Our target market is business travelers, with a twist. As millennials are reaching management positions, they are also redefining the rules of business travel.”
