    Australia‘s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reported (31-Jul-2019) the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia for May-2019:

    • Passengers: 3.2 million, +6.0% year-on-year;
    • Available seats: 4.2 million, -1.7%;
    • Cargo: 92,463 tonnes, -6.6%;
    • Flights: 16,264, +0.9%;
    • Aircraft movements: 16,735, +0.7%;
    • Top 10 international carriers:
      • Share of passengers carried:
        • Qantas Airways: 18.4%, +0.4ppt;
        • Jetstar Airways: 8.7%, -0.8ppt;
        • Singapore Airlines: 8.6%, +0.2ppt;
        • Virgin Australia: 6.7%, +0.6ppt;
        • Emirates: 6.5%, -0.6ppt;
        • Air New Zealand: 6.5%, stable;
        • Cathay Pacific: 4.7%, +0.6ppt;
        • Qatar Airways: 3.3%, +0.4ppt;
        • China Southern Airlines: 2.8%, stable;
        • AirAsia X: 2.6%, -0.5ppt;
      • Share of cargo carried:
        • Singapore Airlines: 17.2%, +0.4ppt;
        • Qantas Airways: 12.1%, +0.7ppt;
        • Emirates Airline: 7.9%, -0.3ppt;
        • Cathay Pacific: 6.7%, -0.2ppt;
        • Air New Zealand: 4.4%, -0.2ppt;

    LCCs AirAsia X, Cebu Pacific Air, Indonesia AirAsia, Jetstar Airways, Jetstar Asia and Scoot accounted for 14.3% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in May-2019. LCC share in May-2018 was 15.7%.
