Bitcoin Watch – ex-Goldman Sachs president: We will have a global cryptocurrency at some point

8 May, 2018

CNBC's 'Squawk on the Street' welcomed former Goldman Sachs president Gary Cohn yesterday who shared some interesting predictions about cryptocurrency, blockchain technology and Bitcoin. Mr Cohn, who also resigned from his role as chief economic advisor to the Trump administration in early Mar-2018, said: "I'm not a big believer in bitcoin. I am a believer in blockchain technology. I do think we will have a global cryptocurrency at some point where the world understands it and it's not based on mining costs or cost of electricity or things like that". This expectation rules out Bitcoin as a global currency, but opens the door for "a more easily understood cryptocurrency," according to Mr Cohn.
