Belgium proposes new tax on commercial aviation at Council of EU Environment Ministers meeting

Belgium's Government reportedly proposed the implementation of a new EU tax on commercial aviation at a meeting of the Council of European Environment Ministers on 05-Mar-2019 (The Brussels Times, 05-Mar-2019). The tax aims to reflect the environmental impact of aviation in air transport pricing. The proposal was supported by representatives of the Netherlands, France, Sweden and Luxembourg.
