Azul: Sao Paulo-Rio de Janeiro airfare prices increased by 64% upon the demise of Avianca Brazil

Azul Linhas Aereas announced (13-Jun-2019) it stands against the route concentrations. Azul stated: "Contrary to what ABEAR (Brazilian carriers' association) says, the concentration of routes does not bring advantages to the consumer". Azul stated that ABEAR represents "mainly the interest of two carriers which concentrate over 95% of operations at" Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport. Brazil's Association of Corporate Travel Agencies (ABRACORP) reported that airfare prices on Sao Paulo Congonhas-Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont increased 64% with Avianca Brazil's exit from the market.
