Azul Linhas Aereas CEO John Rodgerson said the carrier will not affiliate with Star Alliance: “It’s like affiliating to a club that does not exist in your city” (Panrotas, 27-Aug-2019). Mr Rodgerson added that a global alliance is important for global players, but Azul‘s target market is Brazil. He did not reject the importance of close partners, pointing to possible JVs with United Airlines and TAP Air Portugal.
