Azerbaijan Tourism Board CEO confirms Azerbaijan Airlines plans to suspend New York service

Azerbaijan Tourism Board CEO Florian Sengstschmid said Azerbaijan Airlines' plans to suspend New York service is "bad news" (Interfax, 13-Jun-2019). The carrier plans to suspend Baku-New York service from Oct-2019, as previously reported by CAPA. Mr Sengstschmid considers the decision is based on "significant interest in Asia and India markets". Mr Sengstschmid noted the launch of Azerbaijan services by foreign carriers and the offer of electronic visas as positive influences.
