Avianca Brazil CEO Frederico Pedreira confirmed the airline is considering plans to open new international routes to the US and Europe in 2018 (Skift, 03-Jan-2018). Mr Pedreira noted however that the airline's preference would be to increase frequency on existing international routes if demand if sufficient. Mr Pedreira stated: "We prefer to add additional frequencies on routes that are already operating than to open new destinations".
