Australian domestic aviation activity slows in Sep-2017 with an increase of only 0.1% year-on-year

Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics released its domestic aviation activity report for Sep-2017 highlighting the smallest of increases at 0.1% year-on-year, equalling 5.26 million passengers.

According to BITRE, available seat kilometres (ASKs), decreased by 3.0% year-on-year to a total of 7.41 billion. The industry wide load factor (RPKs/ASKs) increased from 78.6% in Sep-2016 to 80.4% in Sep-2017.

For the month of Sep-2017, Melbourne-Sydney remained Australia's busiest route with 742,212 passengers, a decrease of 1.0% year-on-year. It was followed by Brisbane-Sydney with 403,876 passengers (up 0.1%) and Brisbane-Melbourne with 307,122 passengers (down 1.5%).
