Australian Airports Association (AAA) welcomed (08-May-2018) Government funding to support the implementation of new security requirements at domestic and regional airports. AAA CEO Caroline Wilkie commented: “The AAA supports the introduction of new passenger and baggage screening equipment at many airports, which is a necessary and important step for the industry as it continues to adapt to new technologies and a changing security environment… We know regional airports are already doing it tough, and this funding is much needed support to ensure these new arrangements are implemented in a timely, effective and consistent way across the country”.
