Australian Airports Association CEO: Airport growth 'not possible' under government control

13 November, 2017

Australian Airports Association CEO Caroline Wilkie attributed airport growth outside of Sydney to privatisation (The Australian, 14-Nov-2017). Ms Wilkie added: "Before privatisation, the vast majority of overseas visitors came through Sydney, and while Sydney is still the main point of entry for overseas visitors, there's been very strong growth in international flights to places such as Melbourne, Perth, and the Gold Coast... None of that growth would have been possible if the airports had remained under government control".
