Australia rolls out electronic boarding passes for international services

    Australia‘s Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Alan Tudge announced (06-Aug-2018) ​international travellers departing Australia are now able to use electronic boarding passes and check in using a mobile device. Mr Tudge said the move towards automation at the border was a key focus for the Government. “Last financial year more than 21.4 million travellers were cleared through the border departing Australian international airports. This number will continue to rise”, he stated. Qantas plans to offer digital boarding passes on services with the exception of US departures from Oct-2018 (itnews.com.au, 06-Aug-2018).
