Auckland Transport to take public feedback on planned Auckland Airport rapid transit link

21 November, 2018

Auckland Transport announced (20-Nov-2018) it will take public feedback on the 'Airport to Botany Rapid Transit' project for Auckland Airport, including a number of public information sessions. The project is part of the NZD100 million (USD68 million) 'Southwest Gateway' programme to upgrade the city's transport network by 2022. The project involves the proposed upgrade of Puhinui Station to an interchange, connecting rail services with bus services to the airport and Manukau. Funding will be partly sourced from the Regional Fuel Tax. If approved, work is expected to be completed by early 2021. Following completion of initial works, a rapid transit network from Botany to the airport, via Manukau, and the Puhinui interchange will be constructed. [more - original PR]
