Auckland Chamber of Commerce says Auckland Airport fuel issues would create brand damage

1 October, 2017

Auckland Chamber of Commerce CEO Michael Barnett stated the jet fuel supply issues at Auckland Airport would likely result in some brand damage for Auckland (Radio NZ, 02-Oct-2017). "Auckland has been positioning itself as a hub and if you're going to do that, you need to have credibility. The travelling public need to have confidence that they are going to be able to connect and they are going to be able to travel internationally, so there has been some damage around that", he said. The issues sparked by the pipeline outage need to be addressed, Mr Barnett said. "You need to be able to give assurances to the marketplace that things like storage, things like transportation of fuel, that those things have been fixed. To me, I think that can happen and happen quickly", he said.
