Auckland International Airport commenced (21-May-2019) its airfield expansion project as part of its infrastructure development programme, intended to revitalise the airport over the next decade. Over the next three years, more than 250,000sqm of land will be converted into new airfield space at the western end of the airport beside the international terminal, adding more than 18% surface area to the airfield. The project will also deliver an additional taxiway, extension of an existing taxiway and development of six remote stands for the parking and servicing of aircraft.
