ATSB releases final report in to Qantas Freight aircraft descent below minimum altitude

Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) released (28-Nov-2017) its final investigation report into the flight below the minimum permitted altitude of a Qantas Freight Boeing 737 (VH-XMO) near Launceston Airport on 17-Jun-2016. ATSB stated the incident, in which a freight aircraft flew below the minimum permitted altitude, has highlighted the value of having a clear and, where appropriate, shared contingency plan. The ATSB is encouraging operators and flight crew to consider including appropriate missed approach considerations, such as intended flight path, crew actions, terrain clearances and ATC requirements into their approach briefings.
