Argentina to invest USD85m to develop LCC facilities at Buenos Aires El Palomar Airport

Argentina's Minister of Transport Guillermo Dietrich reported Eurnekian Group subsidiary Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 plans to invest ARS1.6 billion (USD85.2 million) to develop dedicated LCC passenger terminal and runway facilities at Buenos Aires El Palomar Airport (La Nacion/infobae/hosteltur.lat, 05/06-Jan-2018). Mr Dietrick said construction works will be carried out in three phases. Phase one will require an estimated investment of ARS110 million (USD5.8 million) and focus on repairing a 2100m runway at El Palomar and installing beacon, lighting and perimeter fencing. Phase two will commence in Jul-2018 and require an estimated investment of ARS500 million (USD26.6 million). It will focus on redeveloping two military hangars for commercial use, including installation of automated check in counters and baggage claim conveyor belts and construction of shops and carpark facilities. The third phase will require an estimated investment of ARS1 billion (USD53.2 million) and focus on the construction of a new passenger terminal with capacity to accommodate one million passengers p/a.
