Antigua and Barbuda PM: LIAT failure would be more expensive than restructuring

12 March, 2019

Antigua and Barbuda's Prime Minister Gaston Browne commented on the financial situation of LIAT, stating: "LIAT cannot survive without the efficacious implementation of this plan and let me make it abundantly clear, there is no if or maybe it has to be done" (tv6tnt.com, 11-Mar-2019). Mr Browne added that the alternative to restructuring is to allow for LIAT to fail, which would be more expensive as a new carrier would have to be devised and "That is just more expensive than having a restructuring of LIAT".
