US Department of Transportation (DoT) received (15-Apr-2019) a reply from All Nippon Airways (ANA) regarding Hawaiian Airlines and Japan Airlines‘ joint application for antitrust immunity. ANA stated Hawaiian Airlines is the only carrier capable of providing interline service beyond Honolulu, adding JapanAirlines is ANA’s largest competitor for Japan-Hawaii traffic and would shut ANA from the inter island market if Hawaiian Airlines were to cease interlining beyond Honolulu or make such activities economically infeasible. ANA requested Hawaiian Airlines be required to enter into interline agreements with other airlines on conditions comparable to those with Japan Airlines. [more – original PR]
