American, Southwest denied boardings rate up in 1H2019, impacted by 737 MAX grounding

    US FAA reported American Airlines voluntarily denied boarding to 69,924 passengers and involuntarily denied boarding to 5022 passengers in 1H2019 (Reuters, 15-Aug-2019). Additionally, Southwest Airlines voluntarily denied boarding to 22,364 passengers and involuntarily denied boarding to 2525 passengers in 1H2019. The FAA noted it was informed by the airlines that the Boeing 737 MAX grounding negatively impacted the involuntarily denied boarding statistics.
