American Airlines: ‘Travel agent… is the most important channel for our product’

    American Airlines director sales Central and South America Dilson Verçosa Jr, via HIP Hotels Brazil‘s official YouTube account, commented (27-Apr-2020) on the importance of the travel agent in a post-coronavirus scenario, stating: “The travel agent sales represents over 80% of our sales in Brazil and Latin America, in some places even more than that”. He added: “The travel agent will always be a channel or the most important channel for our products”. Mr Verçosa proceeded: “It does not mean that the carrier will stop looking… for other distribution channels”. He argued that what drives the channel diversification is not “because we want or don’t want to sell through travel agents, competition leads us to” seek other channels.
