American Airlines stated (17-Dec-2018) it has "earned a profit every quarter" since its merger with US Airways in 2013. The carrier also noted the following achievements:
- Over USD21.5 billion in pretax profits, excluding special items;
- Returned more than USD11.3 billion to shareholders through repurchase programmes;
- Paid a dividend of USD0.10 per share since Aug-2014, for a total of USD1 billion;
- Added to the S&P 500 Index in 2015;
