American Airlines puts A330-200s in storage until 'at least 2022'

13 May, 2020

American Airlines SVP of flight operations Kimball Stone said the airline will place all A330-200s "in long term storage until at least 2022", due to the "current depressed forecast for international demand and no opportunities to profitably use the fleet domestically" (Dallas Morning News, 07-May-2020). American Airlines spokesman Brian Metham said services previously operated by the A330-200s will be operated by Boeing 777s and 787s. "We're working closely with our union partners", he noted, adding: "No crew bases will close and no team members will be furloughed at this time as a result of this extended storage".
