American Airlines projects 'very gradual recovery' through 2020

16 April, 2020

American Airlines CEO Doug Parker said the carrier projects current demand will remain the same throughout 2Q2020, before a "very gradual recovery" through 3Q/4Q2020 (CNBC, 15-Apr-2020). "We're prepared for whatever kind of recovery it takes", he said, noting there are "indications that the world is ready to start travelling again, but they're very preliminary and it's certainly not happening today". Indications for the US include bookings outside of 90 days that "are beginning to tick up a little bit", although he warned this "could be changed in the future".
