American Airlines president Robert Isom said the carrier's incoming Boeing 787s could "serve as potential growth or they can take out additional 777s over the long run as that fleet ages" (Forbes, 21-May-2020). "From a widebody perspective, we're down to 787s and 777s", he noted, adding the potential retirement of the 777s will "have to do with how the marketplace develops".
