American Airlines CEO Doug Parker said the airline is in "a unique place" in early 2019, with widebody aircraft operating domestically that were expected to be operating in the South Pacific as part of the pending JV with Qantas Airways (Boarding Area, 18-Jan-2019). Mr Parker says the airline now expects to grow into its widebody fleet count, with more widebody aircraft operating trans Atlantic services during summer 2019 and South Pacific frequencies in winter 2019. Mr Parker said the airline expects approval of the JV with Qantas "in the next few months".
