American Airlines SVP and chief information officer (CIO) Maya Leibman stated less than 0.5% of the carrier's delays are due to IT issues (phys.org, 30-Jun-2019). She noted no industry is completely resistant to IT outages, adding American Airlines has a programme which seeks to prevent, detect and remediate security issues, as well as modernise the airline's systems.
