American Airlines, Alaska Airlines reduce frequent flyer partnership

American Airlines and Alaska Airlines plan to reduce the frequent flyer partnership between the two carriers, effective 01-Mar-2020, subject to regulatory approval (The Points Guy/One Mile At A Time, 02-Oct-2019). As a result of this reduced partnership, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members will no longer be able to redeem Alaska Airlines miles on American Airlines frequencies, and American Airlines AAdvantage members will no longer be able to redeem American Airlines miles on Alaska Airlines frequencies. American Airlines stated this will provide more award seats for AAdvantage members, especially in premium cabins on services between domestic hubs.
