Amaszonas VP: Without a rescue plan, private carriers 'risk disappearing'

18 June, 2020

Amaszonas VP Luis Alejandro Vera commented on the carrier's financial standing, stating: "If we [private carriers in Bolivia] don't have a rescue plan to save the private carriers we risk disappearing… Aviation in Bolivia generates around one million direct and indirect jobs" (Pagina Siete, 13-Jun-2020). The carrier requested USD100 million state assistance for the wide aviation industry, out of which USD52 million would be allocated to Boliviana de Aviacion. Amaszonas also requested measures to assist with tax reliefs and reduce airport fees and aviation fuel costs, as "Bolivia is a producer [and] it is one of the most expensive in the region".
