Amaszonas Uruguay to halve its operations and seek government subsidies

Amaszonas Uruguay plans to retrench 36 of 74 personnel alongside plans to reduce its fleet from two to one aircraft from 01-Mar-2019 (El Observador, 21-Feb-2019). The carrier also announced plans to add two Embraer E195s in 2H2019. Amaszonas Uruguay CEO Sergio Urioste stated the carrier has requested a reduction in fuel taxation from the government, as well as "other types of incentives" given its position as Uruguay's flag carrier.
