Italy‘s Uiltrasporti union stated (31-Jul-2018) Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Danilo Toninelli is likely to announced “important” plans regarding Alitalia in Sep-2018. Reports suggest a new tender will be launched for a minority stake in the carrier in Sep-2018, with Alitalia largely seeking to sell a 49% stake to a strategic partner (Messaggero/il Sole 24 Ore/La Stampa, 31-Jul-2018). Answering a question to the Senate, Mr Toninelli said when he mentioned retaining a 51% stake in Alitalia, he “did not talk about nationalisation” of the carrier but rather for it to serve the national interest.
