Alitalia, via the booking system on its official website, confirmed (Jan-2018) plans to introduce the 'Light' fare option for trans Atlantic services from 10-Apr-2018. The option includes one item of hand baggage and does not include checked baggage. The cost of checked baggage from Europe to the US and Canada is EUR50, while from the US and Canada to Europe the cost is USD60. As previously reported by CAPA, Air France-KLM announced the product in Dec-2017 and said JV partners Alitalia and Delta Air Lines were to soon follow with similar fare structures across the Atlantic.
