Airbus studying option to add even more range to the A321neo

Airbus reportedly launched a study of a further development of the A321LR, tentatively known as the A321XLR (Aviation Journal/Reuters/, 19-Jun-2018). The aircraft would reportedly offer a further improvement in range over the 7400km achieveable with the A321LR, although it would not add seat capacity or feature improved aerodynamics. Airbus is reportedly considering the design as a response to Boeing‘s efforts to develop an all-new ‘middle of the market’ aircraft with range greater than 9000km and capacity for around 220 to 270 passengers.
